About the Blog

BTG was born out of a desire to share some of my experiences in the classroom with others. After 11 years teaching in 4 states, I continue to be struck by the idea that the hardest part of this work isn't actually grading, parent interactions, planning time, or any of the other tasks that come with it. Instead, as in all aspects of my life as a Black woman, I struggle with combating white supremacy in the classroom. One of my coping mechanisms has been connecting with other Black teachers who are doing the best they can within an oppressive system. This is a space to hear some of our stories....
